Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Unemploid (“Unemploid”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Unemploid Chrome extension and related website and services (together, the “Service”). We built Unemploid to help you tailor your résumé and prepare for interviews, and we take the privacy of your career data seriously.
By installing or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted representation of your password. Authentication is handled by our infrastructure provider, Supabase.
Résumé and profile content
We store the content you create or import, including your CVs, résumé fields, edits, and saved jobs. When you import a PDF or image résumé, its contents are processed to reconstruct editable fields (see “How your data is processed” below).
Job postings you open
When you ask Unemploid to optimize your résumé against a role, we read the text of the specific job posting you are actively viewing. We do not read your browsing history, other open tabs, or pages you have not asked us to act on.
Audio for interview practice
If you use interview practice, we access your microphone only while a practice session is active and only after you grant permission. The captured audio is transcribed to text; we do not record you in the background.
Usage and diagnostic data
We collect limited technical data needed to operate the Service, such as request counts (to enforce daily limits), error logs, and basic diagnostic information. We do not sell this data.
2. How your data is processed
Unemploid’s AI features — résumé rewriting, keyword parsing, Vision-OCR import, and Whisper audio transcription — are performed server-side. Requests are routed through a secure cloud gateway built on Supabase Edge Functions. This means:
- Third-party AI provider API keys are held server-side and are never bundled into the extension or exposed in your browser.
- To perform a request, the relevant content (for example, the job posting text and the résumé text you are optimizing, or the audio you record during practice) is transmitted to our gateway and forwarded to the AI provider that generates the result.
- Data is encrypted in transit.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core Service: tailoring résumés, parsing keywords, importing documents, and transcribing practice answers.
- To sync your profile and CVs across your devices.
- To enforce plan limits (for example, the Free Beta’s daily request allowance).
- To process payments and manage subscriptions if you upgrade to a paid plan.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug problems.
- To respond to your support requests.
4. Service providers we rely on
We share the minimum data necessary with trusted providers who help us run the Service:
- Supabase — authentication, database storage, and the Edge Function gateway.
- AI processing providers — to generate résumé rewrites, keyword analysis, OCR results, and audio transcriptions.
- Stripe — to process payments for paid plans. Unemploid does not store your full card details; these are handled directly by Stripe.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
5. Data retention
We retain your account information and saved content for as long as your account is active. Job-posting text and practice audio are used to generate a result and are not retained for advertising or profiling. You can delete your CVs and profile data at any time, and closing your account removes your stored content, subject to limited retention required for legal, security, or accounting purposes.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access & export — you can view and export your CVs and profile content from within the Service.
- Deletion — you can delete individual documents, or request full account deletion by emailing us.
- Microphone — you control microphone access through your browser and operating system permissions; the Service functions without it (interview practice simply won’t be available).
- Regional rights — depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or erase your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and a server-side gateway that keeps sensitive credentials off your device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information and limit access to it.
8. Children
Unemploid is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
